Starting at the age of 8 Samuel began singing with the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee. From there his interest in the arts grew and he began training in dance at Milwaukee Ballet and theater at the Performing Arts School in Milwaukee where he worked in a number of theatrical productions such as The Caucasian Chalk Circle playing Simon and working with First Stage Milwaukee in The Outsiders.
Samuel then began intensive ballet training where he was coached exclusively by Yves de Bouteiller, currently a teacher at the English National Ballet. Samuel's training in ballet continued with world distinguished schools such as San Francisco Ballet and the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow.
Having already trained with some of the most elite ballet schools in the world, Samuel was accepted into the American Ballet Theatre where he was given the opportunity to tour both nationally and internationally. Following the American Ballet Theatre, Samuel continued his training with the Joffrey Ballet under the direction of Gerald Arpino. There Samuel danced a number of principal roles including Romeo in Cranko's Romeo and Juliet and Faun in Nijinsky's Afternoon Of A Faun, and many others. Samuel also participated in a number of International Festivals within The Netherlands, United Kingdom and New York.
After a number of years in ballet, Samuel joined the pre-Broadway cast of Dirty Dancing followed by the West End cast playing the principal role of Robbie. Other show credits include Billy Elliott directed by Stephen Daldry, playing the principal role of Older Billy in the US National Tour and in Toronto. Samuel also had the pleasure to work with Cirque Du Soleil directed by Franco Dragone and Guy Laliberte as one of the leading characters of La Nouba.
Samuel has also been a cast member in the late Robert Altman's film The Company working with Neve Campbell and James Franco.
Most recently Samuel opened Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage North American tour playing the lead, Johnny Castle, directed by Eleanor Bergstein and James Powell.
He has trained extensively with acting coaches such as Judith Windsor who studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and trained for the theatre at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. She has worked on a number of films and theater productions such as Alfie and Spy Games. Michael Barakiva, writer and director, working with companies such as MTV, ACT, Lincoln Center and New York Stage and Film, as well as Markson Dawe who trained with American Conservatory Theatre San Francisco and is a member of IMTA.
